KONGENS HAVE PAVILION

Competition // 2 man project // 2017 // Denmark // Kongens Have // Honourable mention

The inspiration for the pavilion origin from Japanese architecture and its ability to generate creative and aesthetic appealing details. The pavilion is based upon the same joint continuously weaving itself into each other, stabilizing the structure in all direction. This knitted structure, is fundamentally the construction, aesthetic and function all in one. By using the same joint throughout the structure, the extraordinary is achieved by the ordinary, where the simple becomes complex. The experience of the pavilion differs through the day, where the structure’s shadow will sway on top of the wood and enhance the materiality, while the sun progress its path in the sky. The pavilions appearance changes from an immaterial, spacious perception when gazed perpendicular upon, to an opaque mass, when the perception angle changes. The pavilion is open to all sides, where it welcome people for recreation, leisure and activities. Within the pavilions periphery an intimate spacious atmosphere, which lay occasion for smaller arrangements and events.
